Sunday Assembly Atlanta is a life-celebrating congregation without deity, dogma, or doctrine. We host many gatherings each month to create connection, nurture personal growth, help others, and inspire you with new ideas.

Sunday Assembly Atlanta is part of the international movement of people who want to celebrate the one life we know we have. You can find other Assemblies in Los Angeles, Nashville, Edinburgh, Pittsburgh, London, and over 20 locations found on this map.
We are here for everyone who wants to:
* Live Better. We aim to provide inspiring, thought-provoking and practical ideas that help people to live the lives they want to lead and be the people they want to be
* Help Often. Assemblies are communities of action building lives of purpose, encouraging us all to help anyone who needs it to support each other
* Wonder More. Hearing talks, singing as one, listening to readings and even playing games helps us to connect with each other and the awesome world we live in.
The Sunday Assembly
1. Is 100% celebration of life. We are born from nothing and go to nothing. Let’s enjoy it together.
2. Has no doctrine. We have no set texts so we can make use of wisdom from all sources.
3. Has no deity. We don’t do supernatural but we also won’t tell you you’re wrong if you do.
4. Is radically inclusive. Everyone is welcome, regardless of their beliefs – this is a place of love that is open and accepting.
5. Is free to attend, not-for-profit and volunteer run. We ask for donations to cover our costs and support our community work.
6. Has a community mission. Through our Action Heroes (you!), we will be a force for good.
7. Is independent. We do not accept sponsorship or promote outside businesses, organizations or services.
8. Is here to stay. With your involvement, The Sunday Assembly will make the world a better place.
9. We won’t tell you how to live, but will try to help you do it as well as you can.
10. And remember point 1… The Sunday Assembly is a celebration of the one life we know we have. What should you expect from a Sunday Assembly event? Just by being with us you should be energized, vitalized, restored, repaired, refreshed and recharged.
No matter what the subject of the Assembly, it will solace worries, provoke kindness and inject a touch of transcendence into the everyday. But life can be tough… It is. Sometimes bad things happen to good people, we have moments of weakness or life just isn’t fair. We want The Sunday Assembly to be a house of love and compassion, where, no matter what your situation, you are welcomed, accepted and loved. Most of all, have fun, be nice and join in.

Welcome to Sunday Assembly’s Help Often Week (April 25-May 3)! Join us as we live out an important part of our motto, which is to “Live Better, Help Often, and Wonder More” in this one life we know we have.
Inspired by the American Empathy Project, Sunday Assembly USA is proud to center their third annual Help Often Week on a core tenet of their values: empathy.
Sunday Assembly Atlanta is excited to announce that we’ll be participating in the American Empathy Project sponsored by the American Humanist Association for Help Often Week on May 2nd!
Led by the American Humanist Association, the American Empathy Project has funded 101 service projects nationwide that will empower community members to combat our country’s crisis of cruelty. One day of action — one unified push to fight for empathy!
Join Sunday Assembly Atlanta as we support our local immigrant families, who are being more actively oppressed than any other time in recent memory, with a resource drive and packing event for The Welcome Co-Op gathering basic household and hygiene supplies. Drop off items, come pack bags, or both!
Supplies accepted and needed: household cleaning products (disinfectant sprays, toilet bowl cleaners, laundry detergent, sponges, etc.), baby necessities (diapers, wipes), toiletries (deodorant, toothpaste, soap, etc.), and drawstring or tote bags.
We encourage shopping locally, but if you are unable to drop items off but still wish to participate, you may buy and ship directly from this Amazon wish list.

Virtual Documentary Night: The Cutting Edge [Voting Night]

For this Virtual Documentary Night we have voted to talk about the documentary, The Cutting Edge: The Magic of Movie Editing. This documentary is about the art of film editing. Clips are shown from many groundbreaking films with innovative editing styles. It shows how editors compile strips of film in order to create memorable moviegoing experiences. In addition to interviews with a variety of respected and award-winning editors, the movie offers clips from some of the most memorable films in the history of the artform. Again, you must watch the film before attending this event. Here is a link to where you can watch the film for free.

This is a Voting Night, which means at the end of the night we brainstorm and vote to decide as a group what we will watch the following month, so please come ready with your recommendation. The only requirement is that the film must be available to watch online for free. If you need any ideas, you can search through the Flyers Page on the Community Documentary Night website. It is full of flyers based around certain themes and each flyer is full of documentary posters, which are hyperlinked to where you watch the films for free. Something to consider is that next month is May, which is Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander Heritage Month, and May 1st is May Day or International Workers' Day. Check out the AANHPI Heritage Month and the May Day flyers if you're interested in recommending a film in honor of these holidays.
Again, you must watch the film on your own BEFORE the event. We will be meeting over Zoom, where we will break out into small discussion groups. We will do multiple rounds of small group discussion, then have a special guest Q&A, before closing out the night with a vote to decide what film we will watch the following month. (Message me if interested in joining the email list) Therefore, THIS RSVP LIST IS NOT REPRESENTATIVE OF HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL BE ATTENDING THE EVENT. So even if you only see one person RSVPed in this meetup group, there will always be others in attendance from other groups. We tend to have at least 20 on average. By inviting numerous groups that increases the likelihood that those in attendance will be from varying backgrounds and beliefs. This is done purposefully to provide everyone with the opportunity to hear a wide range of perspectives.
This event is open to all who are open to all. The one thing we ask is that people allow others to get their full thought out and that any disagreement is voiced in a civil way. Check out the Community Documentary Night website for more info or links to previously shown documentaries.
