ARRR! A Pirate's Life for Me, ride recaps and more upcoming events...

From: John S.

Southbay Cruisers,

We got some rides, some ride recaps and other events brewing...

Breakfast Ride to Polliwog Park II/Post Ride Guitar Jam and Barbecue was a blast! After our ride on April 11th we took a tour of the Manhattan Beach Firestation, then headed back to the park for a barbecue and entertainment from the Southbay Acoustic Musicians who jammed in the park for us. We were even entertained by an African Choir group that like our music so much that they came over and sang a couple songs too. We look forward to more post ride acoustic jam sessions. For more about The Southbay Acoustic Musicians see www.meetup.com/southbay-acoustic-musicians-you can even see post ride pics of our jam session there.

Old Town Torrance Ride Recap on 4/5/09 - check out the video on YouTube.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kzmby1nXkyI

Earth Day Celebration at Polliwog Park-I don't know much about this but I got an email the other day asking if the Southbay Cruisers wanted a free booth at an Earth Day Event at Polliwog Park in Manhattan Beach on Sat April 18th from 11:00am - 4:00PM. I've put in a call to find out more details. If we can get a booth we will likely need volunteers to help out at the event. Please contact me if you are interested in volunteering. Details to follow once they are clear to me.

Hermosa Beach Bike Day City Proclamation - May 16th, 2009
Tony and others have been working with the Hermosa Public Works Commission and the city has decided to create an Annual Bike Day. This year's Hermosa Bike Day will be on May 16th, 2009 and will feature presentation on how to ride safely including bike safety inspections. The event starts at 9:00am and ends at 1:00PM. For more information and if you are interested in volunteering please email Kim Macmullan of the Hermosa Public Works Commission at [address removed].

Cruisers of the Week - The Manhattan Beach Fire Station for giving us an awesome tour after the Polliowog Ride. Thanks!

Good Luck Tito! - Alas Tito, his rabbit ears and whistle are now on their way to Washington DC. If you've been on a Southbay Cruiser ride with Tito you will know who I am talking about. His wife recently took a position in Washington DC and so the two are headed back east as I write this message. We will Miss Tito, his many outfits, and his unique post ride karaoke style. We wish him well and hope to ride with him again on his return visits to So Cal.

Dial Instant Printers(www.dialprinters.com) Roger at Dial Instant Printers, who from time to time, brings his family to our rides, has always gone the extra mile donating to our group. He actually created the Southbay Cruiser logo, all of our spoke cards over the years, and has helped with much of the artwork for our upcoming Southbay Bicycle Music Festival III. His reputation for customer service and attention to detail precede him. Check out Dial Printers for your printing needs. They are located here in Manhattan Beach.

Mary Caldera Portraits(www.marycaldera.com) Aside from leading many of our rides recently, Mary has donated much of her time to create the artwork and program design for the Southbay Bicycle Music Festival III.
