The El Cerro De Los Lunas is a volcanic land form. Anyone taking the I25 south through Los Lunas will see this formation on the west side of the freeway. It is the kind of hill that beckons hikers of all kinds.

Distance: 5-6 miles
Elevation Gain: 950-1000 feet
Terrain: rolling and steep
Difficulty: intermediate
NOTE: There is a lot of elevation loss and gain over the entire route which can be a challenge. Also the route has no shade and warmer temperatures add to the difficulty of the hike.

We will hike at a normal pace and take a break at one summits.

Chipping in for Gasoline: The average round trip distance from ABQ to Los Lunas is about 60 miles. Everyone who carpools will have to help the driver pay for gas at 3.00 per person. Gasoline is expensive.

Car pooling: I can take 3 other people and squeeze one more in if need be. If some one else will volunteer to car pool that would be great.
