'MAKHA PUJA' : This is the big Buddhist festival in Thailand and other Buddhist countries, each March on full moon. (There is a majour festival every 3 months in the Buddhist calendar).
It commemorates the time the Buddha attended a spontaneous gathering of Enlightened monks/nuns and gave a famous summary of his entire teaching - this was to be used as a guideline for all who would come later to adhere to the path of Enlightenment.

Join this humorous and informative exploration of Makha Puja's original meaning and how it is understood in the Thai tradition.

You will see various activities around Thailand for this (on Tuesday). Get up early enough and head to your local temple to join the Thais!
*Note that it can be spelled Magha or Makha, and Puja or Bucha

Baan Aree is a Thai Buddhist Center, please wear something that is comfortable and modest. It is very close to Ari BTS Station.

Enter through the passage between EXIM building and the gas station. Or enter from the soi behind. (Baan Aree is also the home of Kid Mai Death Awareness Cafe - so you can also follow directions for that on G Maps)

As is usual with Buddhist teachings, there is no charge for this event. However, the Little Bangkok Sangha follows the Buddhist custom of Dana (generosity). The teachings and the venue are offered as an act of generosity, and those receiving them can, if they wish, support with a donation. These go towards the teacher’s and venue's costs.
