Chilterns and Beyond Walks and Weekends

This is a delightful route of about 4.3 miles starting from the popular Paper Mill pub and restaurant in Apsley. Our route takes us cross country and up into woodland paths with great views across the hills, before returning along a stretch of the canal. This is a joint event with the Scenic Walks in the Chilterns group. Walking time approx. 2 hours.

The price for the walk is £2 to cover costs.

After the walk there's the option to stay for a chat and a drink at The Paper Mill. I've reserved ten places for an indoor drink there after the walk - if you want to reserve one of these places please let me know. More places may be possible, and if it's sunny they'll probably let us move outside as we did last time.

Free Parking
Free parking is available at The Paper Mill - you must register your car registration number at the bar before we leave - and there's also free parking nearby at Apsley Mills Retail Park car park in any case.

Travelling from London / by Train
The nearest train station is Apsley, which is just a two minute walk from our meeting point.

This is an absolutely stunning walk, primarily for National Trust Members because the Cliveden Estate is free to NT members but £25 otherwise. We'll walk round the splendid country estate and it's glorious Italianate mansion, gardens, sculptures and views over both the gardens and the river, which we'll also walk along, past the boat houses and cottages, totalling about 4.5 miles. See the gallery for more photos. Factoring in other walking we'll probably end up doing closer to 6 miles. This is a joint event with the Scenic Walks in the Chilterns Meetup Group.
