A sensibly-paced bike ride intended for people looking to socialise more than to speed, covering just under 10 miles with plenty of stops and using quiet streets and cycleways wherever feasible. Anticipated average speed when moving, around 7/8mph (including stopping for lights, junctions, etc).

Approximately something like this if the weather is fine or at least acceptable. Join for the whole thing or join partway :)

From 12.30pm: Cycle along Marston Road, through the East Oxford quiet area, to Green Routes for coffee and cake:

From 1.30pm: Cycle back into the city centre through Iffley and along the riverbank. Ice cream or disperse depending on mood, weather, and timing :)

Bagley Wood & Boars Hill Circular Walk – 9.5 km Woodland Escape with Pub Stop 🌿
Join us for a beautiful 9.5 km circular walk through Bagley Wood, one of the largest and most historic woodlands near Oxford.
This ancient woodland, owned by St John's College Oxford, covers approximately 550 acres and features a rich mix of mature oak trees, coppiced areas, woodland plantations, and open glades. It’s a peaceful and atmospheric place, full of character and seasonal colour.
As we follow the winding forest paths, we’ll take our time to enjoy the scenery, breathe in the fresh woodland air, and keep an eye out for wildlife along the way. Depending on the season, you may spot wildflowers, birds, and the impressive variety of trees that make this woodland so special.
About two-thirds of the way through the walk, we will stop at The Fox Inn (Fox Lane, Boars Hill) for a drink and a short rest.

Please arrive by 1:20 pm so we can set off on time.
🚶 Terrain: Mostly natural forest paths. After rain, the ground can become muddy and slippery in places, so sturdy footwear is strongly recommended.
🅿️ Parking: Parking is free on the road, but please ensure you do not block any entrances or gates along the route.

📝 About Boars Hill:
Boars Hill is a peaceful and historic area just south-west of Oxford, known for its gentle slopes, wide countryside views, and long association with poets and writers. Today it remains a scenic and tranquil spot for walking and enjoying the landscape near the city.
This is a relaxed, sociable walk at a steady pace — a perfect opportunity to enjoy nature and good company just outside Oxford.

🌿 Dorchester-on-Thames & Wittenham Clumps Circular Walk
Join us for a scenic and varied circular walk combining countryside, riverside paths, and a touch of history.
We’ll start in the picturesque village of Dorchester-on-Thames and head out along quiet lanes, passing through areas rich in history, including land once explored for its Roman heritage. From there, we’ll cross the river and begin a steady climb up to the Wittenham Clumps.
The climb is well worth it—at the top, we’ll be rewarded with beautiful panoramic views across Oxfordshire. We’ll also pass Castle Hill, the site of an ancient Iron Age hill fort, and stop near the commemorative stone marking the former Poem Tree.
After taking in the views, we’ll make our way back down and return to the village via a peaceful riverside path—perfect for a relaxed finish to the walk.
At the end of the walk, there will be an optional pub stop for anyone who would like to stay for a drink or a bite to eat 🍻
