Hakkımızda
Time to tempt your palate with all the pleasurable flavors that LA, and beyond, has to offer!

Join Pleasure Palate as we do culinary adventures exploring of restaurants (both high-end & holes-in-the-wall), food & beverage tastings, and more. From savory to sweet, spicy to tangy, ethnic to All-American, we'll taste it all! Come along and let us take your taste buds on the ride of their life!

Because we want to burn off some of the calories that we eat, many of our events will have both a dining and physical activity paired together. We do many day trips and weekend adventures that combine the best of both dining and experiencing what LA, SoCal and beyond has to offer in terms of dining options and points of interests.

Pleasure Palate has been around for over 13 years now and in that time we have had over 2,000 events. We offer at least 8 events per month for our members to choose from. This is a very active MeetUp group.
We will focus on various aspects of urban, suburban and rural life, ranging from architectural to cultural, historical to quirky and/or a combination of any of the above to help give you a better appreciation of where we live. Oh, and bring your camera because we encourage all our members to take photos and share their experiences with us on the event pages.
MeetUp charges over $200 each year to maintain the Pleasure Palate site. In addition, it costs a lot of money to maintain memberships to historical societies, newspaper and magazine subscriptions - all to get ideas for future events. So we ask for a voluntary $12.00 annual donation to help defray the costs that MeetUp charges. Members who donate $12 per year get Plus Member status which allows them to bump off a Regular member for a event which is already full. Plus Members can't bump off other Plus members.

Memorial Day Weekend Getaway: Kanarra Falls & Slot Canyons
Cedar Valley Inn, 281 South Main Street, Cedar Valley, UT, USPlease note: Read the directions very carefully below BEFORE you RSVP "Yes' for this event,
- This is a 1 night, 2 day adventure during Memorial Day weekend.
- You cannot be high maintenance and must be DRAMA FREE to join me on this adventure.
- You must be reasonably fit to hike a few miles in one day and climb up ladders and traverse through some water and slot canyons to participate in this mostly outdoor adventure.
- I will be renting a vehicle which we will carpool from at a designated address in the City of Carson. The estimated cost per person for the vehicle and gas will be about $150 per person. It might be less, but I am quoting a high figure due to the cost of gas these days.
- You must book your hotel either at the place that I booked at: Cedar Valley Inn, Cedar City (updated prices 2026)
or just a few miles from Cedar Valley Inn in Cedar City, UT. - On our way to Cedar City, UT, we will have lunch at a restaurant in Las Vegas. Estimated cost of lunch in Vegas is between $30 to $40 per person. We will either have a meal in St. George, UT or Vegas on our way back to LA on Sunday as well.
- This adventure requires a non-refundable $17 deposit. This deposit pays for the hiking permit I secured for this adventure. The permits cost $15 but they had $2 service charge, which is why its $17. You can send me the deposit payment via Zelle, PayPal or Venmo.
- The first day we will hike one easy slot canyon and the second day we will hike Kanarra Falls.
- We recommend sturdy, waterproof hiking boots and the use of hiking poles.
Be prepared to hike in ankle to knee-deep water for about half of the time, and expect to get wet. This hike is rated moderate to strenuous due to the difficulty of navigating a rocky riverbed. Additionally, you will need to scale a 20-foot ladder, so please use caution.
YouTube video: The ULTIMATE Guide to Hiking Southern Utah's Best Waterfall | Kanarra Falls
Its been a couple of years since I first heard about Kanarra Falls which is a slot canyon with a stream that runs through it. I found out there is also another slot canyon near it as well. So I want to head there this Memorial Day weekend and hike these two slot canyons. So come join me on this slot canyon adventure!

Palette Dim Sum, 3015 El Camino Real, Tustin, CA, USSaw video from "Reina is Crazy" checking this place out. It looked pretty yummy esp. the various flavored colored soup dumplings, the palette of sauces and the lobster crystal dumpling with the extra squeeze bottle of sauce for it. Heck, it all looked great.
Check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hrIcNdwvaQg

Shabutsu: Tracing Forms of the Buddha
Japan Foundation, 5700 Wilshire Blvd # 100, Los Angeles, CA, USPlease RSVP at the Japan Foundation website.
Full disclosure: I am not Buddhist, but this workshop sounds like a very interesting way to explore meditation practice.
"Shabutsu is the practice of tracing the image of the Buddha by hand, sharing the same spirit as carving Buddhist statues. Buddhist images are not created as expressions of personal creativity, but as objects of devotion, following traditional guidelines.
In Shabutsu, a sheet of paper is placed over a model image, and the lines are carefully traced one by one. At the end, a personal prayer or wish is quietly written.
In this workshop co-presented with Koyasan Beikoku Betsuin of Los Angeles, we invite you to experience the spirit and practice of Shabutsu together."
I plan to arrive early to take a look at the gallery and the related exhibit ("Manifesting Icons") before the class. It closes at 6pm.
Hope to see you there!

Oscar Wilde: Gowns in Miniature
William Andrews Clark Memorial Library, 2520 Cimarron Street, Los Angeles, CA, USCome join me at the Clark Library (one of my happy places, LOL) for an exhibition of mini gowns created by UCLA MFA costume design students! It's an excellent opportunity to visit the Clark, which usually requires an appointment. The registration link is below. It's free of charge but requires advance registration.
The Clark has one of the most comprehensive collections on Oscar Wilde in the world.
From the Clark Library's announcement website:
"Join us to celebrate Oscar Wilde, the William Andrews Clark Memorial Library, and the David C. Copley Center for Costume Design at an event featuring eight exquisite half-scale gowns created by UCLA MFA costume designers.
Mentored by costume designer, historian, and Distinguished Professor Deborah Nadoolman Landis, PhD (Director, David C. Copley Center for Costume Design), MFA costume designers conducted research in the Oscar Wilde collection at the Clark Library and designed costumes for The Importance of Being Earnest, A Woman of No Importance, An Ideal Husband, and Lady Windermere’s Fan. Design sketches and briefs, costume history, and mood boards will be presented alongside the gowns at this gathering commemorating our collaboration."
Please register at the Clark Library website. Space is limited and I can't guarantee walk in registration will be available.
