Art X Fashion @ The Museum at FIT
Admission to the museum is free.
This exhibition will be on display from February 19 until April 19, 2026. If you cannot attend the opening, please stop in and see the show at your convenience. Call ahead for hours.
This exhibition is a comprehensive exploration of the symbiotic relationship between the world of fashion and fine art. Featuring more than 140 objects, including garments, accessories, textiles, photographs, and original artworks drawn from MFIT's permanent collection, *Art X Fashion* challenges the traditional hierarchies of visual culture, presenting fashion and art each as parallel, potent expressions of social, intellectual, and creative forces. Curated by Dr. Elizabeth Way, curator of costume and accessories at MFIT, the exhibition reflects MFIT's mission to advance the understanding and appreciation of fashion's critical role in culture.
The core of *Art X Fashion* lies in its profound engagement with the eternal question: "Is fashion art?" The exhibition explores the ways that fashion has always been a partner, not a follower, of fine art, highlighting typically overlooked integrations throughout history. This includes examples of how the two disciplines have worked together to create European styles, from the drama of Rococo and Neoclassical grandeur to the unsettling world of Surrealism, to the shock of Pop Art and postmodernism.

[FILM MEETUP] Season 3 (S3C1) Screening!
Join us on **Saturday, February 21st**, as we return to The Town School's theater for the screening of our very first challenge of Season 3! We'll be watching the incredible short films made for this challenge, kicking off the *official* start to our third season, which will run the entirety of 2026.
**Note that no food or drink are allowed** and that the theater is inside of an elementary/middle school, so please be mindful and respectful of the space and arrive promptly at 1:00pm.
**In order to keep the group going as it grows into new spaces, we are accepting donations at a suggested price of $10. Our mission to keep filmmaking free and accessible to all remains the same, so these funds go strictly towards operating costs. This donation is not required to attend, but your contributions go towards a great cause.**
Submit films for Challenge 1 [HERE](https://shortcutsnyc.com/submit) **Deadline to submit is Thursday, February 19th by 11:59pm.**
Challenge Rules for S3C1 (December 6 - February 21):
* Rule 1 (Form): **Silhouette**
* Rule 2 (Wildcard): **Required Line: "No One Understands"**
**For S3C1, you have until February 19 to shoot a short film that utilizes at least one silhouette (get creative!) and includes the required line (spoken or written, but prominently featured), "No one understands". Do your homework! Get creative with the line. How can you subvert expectations with these elements?**
* ***NOTE: If these guidelines are not met there is a high probability that your film will not be shown. Short Cuts is a learning community so you MUST learn what these rules are before planning for your film. We prioritize films that are submitted on time, are 5 minutes and under, and have the director present. Films that are submitted on time and follow the rules will be shown in ascending runtime order, and then everything submitted late will be after. No generative AI films or films largely enhanced by generative AI.***
***
At the end of the event, we will provide everyone with two randomly drawn rules from a hat as guidelines for participating in future challenges. Afterwards, you will have the opportunity to create short films following these rules. At the next meeting, you will get the opportunity to show off your film, watch what others have made, and receive the next challenge's randomly drawn rules!
Note that **no** experience is required, and all you need is a camera and a way to edit and upload your film.
**Short Cuts** is a group of independent filmmakers challenging themselves to create short films every \~4 weeks following a number of randomly drawn rules. Each meeting, filmmakers have the opportunity to show off their films and watch others, as well as draw the rules for the next film challenge. This group welcomes any experience level, from those who have never touched a camera, written a script, or acted in a film to seasoned veterans looking for a challenge.

WATCH EPiC: ELVIS PRESLEY IN CONCERT IN IMAX
From Danielle Solzman, Toronto Film Festival, September 14, 2025:
“Musically, EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert is a feast. Over 70 songs appear in the film, spanning Vegas shows, tours, rehearsals, and classic recordings. What truly surprised me were the covers: Elvis takes on The Beatles’ “Yesterday” and “Something.” I had known about him weaving “Get Back” into a 1970 rehearsal of “Little Sister.” But the film also highlights his renditions of Simon & Garfunkel, Ray Charles, Dusty Springfield, Bob Dylan, Three Dog Night, Brenda Lee, Edwin Hawkins, and The Righteous Brothers.EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert is less about biography and more about the music, the performance, and the magic of Elvis Presley. Every restored frame, every note, every cover feels like a gift to fans old and new. It’s a celebration of the King’s artistry, captured in a way that only IMAX can fully deliver—and it’s nothing short of spectacular. If you are in a position to see this on the big screen, you will not regret it.”
Alright folks – I am taking Ms. Solzman’s word for it. I believe her. Join us as we watch one of the greatest entertainers of all time on the IMAX screen. We will meet in the lobby of AMC Lincoln Square 13 (1998 Broadway, at 68th St.) at 3:30. Our movie begins at 4. My seat is G28. Please purchase your ticket ASAP so you will not be disappointed. After the movie we will have dinner at an inexpensive restaurant. All are welcome and bring a friend.
