Joy of Coding Warm-Up Party
Details
Here we go again! It is the fourth time we are hosting the Joy of Coding (http://joyofcoding.org) Warm-Up Party and we are very proud of it! Join us and indulge in great tech talk and excellent beer, not to mention all the like-minded developers you will get to meet again, or for the first time. The Warm-Up Party is a free event and is open to all, also people not attending the Joy of Coding (http://joyofcoding.org). [You can still buy tickets (https://shop.inventid.nl/132/products) for the conference, though!]
Traditionally there will be two talks during the evening, both by speakers of this year's edition of Joy of Coding. Have you never though the manual of LISP 1.5 could be fun? No worries! Igor Wiedler (https://igor.io/archive.html) will walk us through the LISP 1.5 manual in a dramatic reading and you will be most likely amused. Hilary Parker (https://twitter.com/hspter), keynote speaker at Joy of Coding (http://joyofcoding.org) will take a closer look at her own name which she shares with one powerful lady. Be prepared for some serious data analysis!

• LISP 1.5 Programmer's Manual: A Dramatic Reading - Igor Wiedler (https://twitter.com/peterhilton)
The original LISP 1.5 manual from MIT's Computation Center written by McCarthy and friends defines the very foundation of Clojure. Its contents reveal much about the historical and social context that it was written in. We shall explore the pages of this spellbook in a dramatic reading.
• Hilary: The Most Poisoned Name In US History - Hilary Parker (https://twitter.com/hspter)
Several years ago I came across a blog post, which provides a cursory analysis for why “Hillary” is the most poisoned name of all time. The author is careful not to comment on the details of why “Hillary” may have been poisoned right around 1992, but I’ll go ahead and make the bold causal conclusion that it’s because that was the year that Bill Clinton was elected, and thus the year Hillary Clinton entered the public sphere and was generally reviled for not wanting to bake cookies or something like that.
In the original post the author bemoans the lack of research assistants to perform his data extraction for a more complete analysis. Fortunately, in this era we have replaced human jobs with computers, and the data can be easily extracted using programming. This weekend I took the opportunity to learn how to scrape the social security data myself and do a more complete analysis of all of the names on record.
In this talk I will answer the question whether Hilary/Hillary is really the most rapidly poisoned name in recorded American history.
