To share aviation with others. None of my friends or family share my interest in it, so please introduce yourself if you want to make friends in aviation.
Mammoth Lakes, CA. (MMH). My lodge is on a lake 15 minutes away. Someday hope to schedule an overnight fly-in, and we can stay at the lodge. www.CrystalCragLodge.com
Piper Dakota (PA[masked]) in Petaluma. Cessna 172 on floats (seaplane) in Sausalito.
Mopped hangar floors as a kid for Walt Mangon at Smith Ranch Airport in San Rafael and planned to become a commercial pilot. Got into business instead. Finally got my license a couple years ago. Having a blast!
1) First solo round trip between Petaluma and Mammoth. 2) Float plane into HAF for first time (wet) $100 hamburger.
I live in Marin. The Dakota lives in Petaluma and the seaplane lives in Sausalito. I like using the planes to visit big and small towns, transport rescue dogs, and meet others who enjoy aviation.
I think anyone who is interested in airplanes or flying should be warmly welcomed to attend all events and be a part of making them fun! 'Cause fun is the whole idea, right?! Then the more the merrier! Exclusivity is very unhealthy---for individuals and groups. The shrinking pilot population is a bad thing, not a good thing. So open your arms to all people of all ages, genders, ethnicities, and backgrounds to join in the fun---in whatever ways they can! And anyone that can give airplane rides to pilots and non-pilots, should do it! OK, down off my soapbox. ;-)
