And actually, it's pretty cool. We're closing the 2600 block of Broadway for a street party from 3pm to 11:11pm ...
That's right: we are closing a Redwood City street, and have constructed an AWESOME count down clock that will do something special for Nerd New Year at 11:11pm !!
We'll have a stage on the street with live bands...
4-5pm Jeff Hayward with an acoustic set
5-6pm Sam Marshall of the band Marshall Law
6-8pm Lisa Marie Johnston's fabulous 11-piece band
9-11pm Night Train will rock the street electric
11:11pm COUNTDOWN CLOCK STRIKES #NERDNEWYEAR !!!
Additional entertainment include, a live shark tank from the Marine Institute, robots, beer truck, TechShop-constructed coolness, face painters, stilt walkers, fire dancers, and enough friendly people to create a wonderful 11/11/11 memory.
Delicious food, beer, and mulled wine are available for purchase from vendors from 3pm to 11pm.
There will also be a raffle with prizes from the San Jose Sharks and San Francisco Giants, and proceeds will go to 11 charities (https://www.wepay.com/donate/nerdnewyear).
If you're not up for celebrating for 8 hours, try three: 106ers can meetup at The Underground at 2650 Broadway 6-9pm to toast and network.
