How the group got its name:
In the beginning, there were people, and they said "Let us form a writers' Meetup." The group was formed, the people became Organizers, and all of it was good.

One day, the Organizers were grieved. They had come to the realization that they could no longer oversee the writers' group, and needed a savior to take their place. They stepped down from their positions and waited for this savior.

Time went on, and the group drew closer and closer to extinction. Precisely ten days before the group was to expire, a woman, by the name of Michelle, snatched it from the jaws of death and answered the call to become the group's organizer.

In honor of this momentous occasion, the group's name was changed to 10 Days Before…

Since that time, the group has gone through a few more organizers, but the name has remained the same. To this day it represents triumph for all writers, accomplishing the unimaginable, always in the nick of time.

About the group:

Welcome!

We are a group of writers, excited about writing and interested in supporting other writers with their endeavors. We've set up three meetings, all designed to help you accomplish your goals as writers.

-Tuesday Sit-and-Write workshops are designed to get your creative juices flowing. Writing prompts are provided (fiction and non-fiction) and writers have about two hours to work on them. Toward the end, writers break off into pairs and critique the material generated by the prompts.

-Friday Write! sessions are designed to give you a quiet place to put a dent in your works in progress. No critiquing here. Just bring your laptop, notebook, or whatever else you write on (napkins maybe) and get to writing. Afterwards, hang out with your writings buddies and bond over drinks and good conversation.

-Saturday Writer's Café is the perfect time to get detailed thoughts about your material. Submit your work ahead of time so that attending members can give it a thorough read, make notes, and provide commentary that may be very helpful to you.


Our members come from all walks of the writing life. Some members are published, self-published, bloggers, poets, closet writers, just-decided-to-start-yesterday writers…You name it, we have it.
