PLEASE READ: Important news about Strangers in Toronto

Hello Everyone,   I am writing to inform you of some important changes to our Meetup group -- "Strangers in Toronto". I will step down as Organizer of this meetup group by next week, but will stay and assist in the transition to a new organizer for some time. The new organizer of Strangers in Toronto will be Guy, who also organizes another Meetup group with over 1000 members.     I have been the organizer of "Strangers in Toronto" for about 2 years, and recently have become actively involved with Guy's group called Toronto Weekend Adveturers or "TWA", so I would like to invite everyone to consider joining this Meetup group.     TWA is currently dedicated to outdoor events, but they wish to incorporate Toronto social and cultural events any day of the week with responsible organizers and within an organized, disciplined structure. There is a chance that we will close Strangers in Toronto once we have finished implementing TWA.

This does not mean that we cannot continue to host events here (at "Strangers"). In fact I will stay on and host some of the events here while assisting the new organizer to recruit some responsible event coordinators so we can have the best of both worlds. (Both Cultural and outdoor events; on weekdays as well as weekends). The new organizer may also offer a few local outdoor events here to provide a sample of what they do.

The events TWA hosts allow for plenty of opportunities for members who are beginner, intermediate and advanced level to participate in Hiking all over the GTA and beyond, Kayaking, canoeing, Photography hikes, camping, skiing, snow tubing, snowshoe, boat cruises, one or more international trips per year (they have a grand Costa Rica event planned for this winter),  and the occasional party. By introducing weekday Toronto events they seek to grow and expand their successes to allow members to experience more than just outdoor adventure. Guy has 4 years experience in organizing events (over 400 events) (albeit only really outdoor type of events and some annual awards type parties).

To find out more about the requirements to join TWA, see this discussion started by Guy, the group's organizer:

The larger the group, the more opportunities we have to organize fun events, meet new friends, and hopefully join a trip to a domestic or international destination. I hope you will decide to join TWA, and become a part of this vibrant group of outdoor (and indoor) adventurers.

But let's start here. Eventually we CAN have the best of both worlds.      If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.       Thanks,     Walter     Strangers in Toronto   Email: [address removed]
