GlobalNet21 Pages

GlobalNet21 believes that the coming century will be one of the most critical facing the human race and that if we do not tackle the great inequalities within societies and between them then the future will be one of conflict and turmoil. GlobalNet21 embraces the humanistic values of global compassion, personal self-discovery, shared development, planetary concern and a love of community; and it is committed to a more equal society where all are valued.

Since its inception the 21st century network has expanded rapidly and our activities have developed further and it now has three major areas of activity.

* The initial purpose of GlobalNet21 was to create and expand engagement in the public square between citizens as well as corporations, government and NGOs where there is a common concern for the sustainability of both our planet and the people on it and to use social networking to enhance democratic discussion. It continues to do this with online discussion, regular well attended public meetings and online meetings (webinars) that involve a global audience.

* Secondly GlobalNet21 is aware that discussion is only a starting point and that people want to often engage in further action in order to make a difference. So GlobalNet21 provides information and links to further action as well as holding action workshops to help people engage in areas that they consider important.

* Thirdly as the network grows it becomes increasingly evident that many people also want to share their skills in groups or on a one to one basis to either help or mentor others or indeed to exchange with others knowledge, experience and skills. GlobalNet21 offers a platform for that exchange to happen and for people to create a global community through shared interests and concern.
