Walk Lake Johnson + El Cerro's

Share a walk on the Lake Johnson Park (http://www.raleighnc.gov/arts/content/PRecRecreation/Articles/LakeJohnsonPark.html) eastern loop on the Saturday of the Winter Solstice. This paved loop is 2.8 miles long which is a little longer than Shelley Lake loop. Last time, we went counter-clockwise, we will reverse it this time and do the easy bits first.

We will assemble at the Avent Ferry Road parking area that is across the lake up Avent Ferry Road from the boathouse at Noon. If you are coming South on Avent Ferry you would cross the lake and parking will be on your left. It is the parking lot closer to Tryon Road. In case of bad weather, the cancellation will be posted here.

Directions:

If you are familiar with NC State University, you know where this is already. It is on Avent Ferry Road which is easily accessible from Western Boulevard.

If you are not yet familiar with this part of Raleigh, the park is easy to get to off of I-40 at the Gorman Street exit. Go South on Gorman: turn left from the exit if you are coming from the East; turn right from the exit if you are coming from the West. Take Gorman to Tryon Road just a block away. Turn right onto Tryon Road. Avent Ferry Road is the second right and the parking lot is just after you pass back over I-40.

Note on Restrooms:

I called the manager of the park and he was surprised that the restrooms were closed when we went there last time. He said they should have been available from dawn to dusk and he would look into it. He said to ask at the concession stand if they were locked.
