We will be watching Screen 1 - Fast & Furious 6 with The Hangover 3.
I'll be there before 6:30. If you get there late, we will be parked in the back row.
Bring your chairs and come out and watch some movies with us! This will be a tail-gate like event as we sit under the stars and watch a movie together.
I'll send an update as soon as they post what movies are playing that Saturday.
Note: Box office opens at 7:15 but please get there a little early so we can park close together (before the sun goes down). It will be impossible to find and park near the group after the sun is gone - I'll be there around 6:00 and have a Meetup sign on my white Toyota Tacoma. You can give me a call if you can't find us (I’ll send out my number to all the Yes RSVPs).
California is and always has been one of the best states for outdoor movies. In 1967 there were 223 drive-ins in the state. The latest count I could find was about 19 theaters left in California. In the 70's & 80's rising property values choked out almost all of the drive-ins in this country. We're lucky in San Diego to still have 2 (3 if you count the one in PB).
The Santee Drive-In is operated by the same family that built it in 1958, James and Patti Henry. It was first opened in 1958 and the 2nd screen was added in 1964. In 1961 you could get in for $1.50 per carload but those days are long gone…
1. Cash Only!
2. $8 for TWO movies (3 if you stay and watch the first movie again)
