INNOVATIVE 3D PRINTING TECHNOLOGIES FOR MAKERS AND INVENTORS. This month we will explore various advancements in currently available 3d printing technologies that allow makers and inventors to prototype and experiment with amazing designs which were never brought to market in the past due to production, technology and material constraints. Now with newly available 3d printing materials, software, and hardware the possibilities are endless!
12 NOON – DOORS OPEN! COFFEE, DISCUSSIONS, 3D PRINTER DISPLAYS.
1PM – BEST PRACTICES FOR MAKING FUNCTIONAL PARTS by Bob Zollo, President & Founder, Avante Technology, LLC This presentation will focus on best practices for making functional 3d printed parts, and will cover topics including selection of filament material types, comparison and trade-offs, tips on preparing a file properly for improved mechanical strength, guidance on dealing with warping, and a number of tips on how to make stronger, more dimensionally stable functional parts. Bob will include a comparison of ABS, Nylon, PETG, Polycarbonate and their own FilaOne™ composite materials. Avante Technology, LLC develops and markets proprietary engineering grade composite materials for FDM printers. They also provide printed part optimization services and custom material development for specific applications.
2PM – TIPS AND DESIGNS FOR 3D PRINTING ELECTRONICS WITH F-ELECTRIC by Michael Toutonghi, CEO, Functionalize, Inc. F-Electric is a PLA-based filament that includes a carbon nanotube composite material. F-Electric is more conductive than any other 3D filament available today. It makes it easy to 3D print circuits, buttons, sensors, power connectors, and other electrical components as part of products printed from any open 3D printer that can use PLA filament. Michael will share some tips and tricks with you, so you have the best possible F-Electric printing experience.
2:30PM –STATE OF THE ART 3D PRINTING MATERIALS PRESENTATION by Alan Hudson from Shapeways.
Alan will discuss some of the newest materials available for 3D printing at Shapeways including their newly released Frosted Extreme Detail plastic, Precious Plated Metal material, Porcelain and more! Shapeways uses a variety of the latest 3D printing technologies to ensure you a wide range of quality materials. Each Shapeways material offers a unique combination of practical and aesthetic properties. 3PM -- AUTODESK'S SPARK PLATFORM AND THE NEW EMBER 3D PRINTER by David Gartner, Senior Product Marketing Manager, Autodesk. David will share an insider’s look at Spark, Autodesk’s open and extensible 3D printing platform. Spark’s APIs, open source algorithms, sample applications and common standards help connect software, hardware and materials to make 3D printing more reliable and open up new possibilities for innovation. He’ll also show us Ember, Autodesk's new Spark Powered ultra high resolution SLA printer and provide a peek into some his company’s explorations into software for 3D printing electronic devices and generative design for additive manufacturing. David recently joined Autodesk to lead product marketing for Spark. He’s responsible for brand stewardship, platform awareness, partner co-marketing, thought leadership and building a worldwide community of engaged developers. When not building the Spark brand, he can be found tinkering with 3D printers and the treasure trove of maker tools at Autodesk’s Pier 9 workshop or swimming in the crisp waters of the San Francisco Bay.
