This is a brisk paced exercise walk. We meet at 8:15AM and walk at 8:30AM.
This walk will take place on concrete, mulch, and sand trails. There may be exposed roots on the Blazing Star trail. This exercise walk will be approximately four miles, but may be shortened easily, perfect for beginners.

We will walk Sugar Sand Park and then walk down the road to the Blazing Star Preserve natural area. Located in Boca Raton, Sugar Sand Park is an 132 acre recreational area. We will walk around the buildings and the recreational areas. The park is surrounded by scrub and contains a short mulched trail. Half a mile down the road is Blazing Star. Nested between Sugar Sand Park and I-95, this is a remnant of the Atlantic Coastal Ridge, ancient dunes that made up the oceanfront of south Florida. There are 24 acres and scrub and two acres of wetlands in the preserve. The trail is about a mile long. We will then return to Sugar Sand Park to depart.
Bring a bottle of water for this walk. Water is required for all walks.
Directions from I-95:
Exit I-95 to Palmetto Park Road exit. Go west to Military Trail. Go south (left) on Military Trail. Park entrance is the very first left (east side of the road). Pass gatehouse and make a right at the stop sign, make second right into the Hockey Rink parking lot. Sugar Sand Park is located at 300 S. Military Trail, Boca Raton. Please note that some GPS systems will take you in the wrong direction from I-95.
Restrooms are located on the Community Center at Sugar Sand Park.
