A typical network packs tremendous computing power. Unfortunately, most of that power sites dormant most of the time.

Let's say I have 10 pc computers, one of which is used for video encoding. I want to be able to configure the other 9 in a cluster, so that a video that takes one computer to encode in 24 hours, can theoretically be completed in 2-3 hours via process migration.

I've achieved this with clusterKNOPPIX, which is based on openMosix. Sadly, the openmosix project has closed, and so have any projects based on it.

I love openMosix because the setup is not complex, and it also does not require code modification to make the cluster work.

It'd be nice if anybody experienced in Linux clustering can do a presentation on it, to shed light on alternatives to openMosix/clusterknoppix.
