We believe in helping cultivate community and conversations. Designed with the intention of encouraging human interactions, our WORK Studios are a place to connect with others to share human experiences. Since opening our doors in 2011, we have hosted over 900 private and public events. From birthdays, weddings, and baby showers to startup launch parties, meetups, corporate events and non profit fundraisers, WORK & Friends is excited to welcome you into our home as a guest, a host, or a member. We look forward to learning new things, sharing opportunities and connecting with you.

Hack for RVA is where Richmond comes together to solve our cities biggest challenges.

Hack for RVA is a civic hackathon that brings together technologists, nonprofit leaders, designers, storytellers, and community members to co-create solutions for Richmond’s most pressing challenges. Grounded in the Mayor Avula’s seven pillars—spanning opportunity, equity, safety, education, housing, health, and economic vitality—Hack for RVA centers lived experience alongside technical skill to ensure solutions are not just innovative, but relevant, equitable, and usable.

Unlike traditional hackathons that prioritize speed or code alone, Hack for RVA prioritizes people, place, and purpose. Participants work across disciplines to prototype ideas that reflect the realities of Richmond neighborhoods, elevate community voices, and strengthen civic systems. The result is not just technology, but momentum—new relationships, shared understanding, and actionable ideas that move the city forward. PLUS there are prizes!
