It's time to turn over a new leaf!
Welcome to Running 101 Monrovia! The next 12 weeks will be a fun and challenging journey. We look forward to not only teaching you the fundamentals of running but also providing you the tools to allow you to achieve your running and fitness goals.
The goal race for our Fall Session is the
Tonight we will go through a 10-15 minute orientation. This will include a brief overview of proper footwear and apparel for running, along with the introduction to our warm up process that is also a strength conditioning workout. For a preview of the warm up, visit the Files section on this meetup site. Files section is under the heading "More". The handout used for our warm up is Functional Warm-up .
We will then complete a group 30 minute run/walk. We will be beginning with an interval of walk for 4 minutes and 30 seconds and then an easy jog for 30 seconds for a total of 6 times. Please dress ready to workout.
Once we complete our workout, we will go into our cool down and stretch process. Please bring a bottle of water to drink while we are cooling down.
Meet your coach!
Growing up running was part of Dede’s conditioning for dance, gymnastics, tennis and the fierce sport of badminton. As most coaches do, running was used as a punishment so she never really enjoyed it. During college she found a love for running but only ran shorter distances to keep her mind and body balanced. In 1998 she ran her first marathon. After that race she was hooked. Since then she has run numerous 5k, 10k, and half marathons. Dede joined Snail’s Pace in 2010. In 2011 she was invited to be an assistant coach and then co-coach. She loves interacting and running in the group settings. The energy the group produces is contagious and make running enjoyable. She never has a boring run. Her coaching goal is to help you believe in yourself. By joining Snails, you will be able to complete the goal you set for yourself.
