ATXDM Holiday Gathering with Stereo Imaging Presentation

Details
For starters, this meetup will be in a totally new location for us- the Old Quarry Library off of Far West Blvd. It's right next to the HEB. And, since it's the last meetup of 2009, we're doing something special. Actually two somethings- first, in the spirit of the holidays, let's do this as a potluck-style gathering. If everyone could bring some kind of festive food, we'll make this something of a party. Nothing serious, just snacks or hors d'oeuvres-type stuff please, we don't want the library getting upset about messy stuff. For example, I'll bring some stuffed mushrooms that are easy to make, but that's the limit. Don't make anything more complicated than that. Chips and dip, crudité, hummus and pita triangles, stuff like that would be just fine. I'll also bring plates, cups, and holiday music.
Second, for our program, which starts at 7:00, our member Dennis Wagner, an avid stereo photographer for 30 years, will give a presentation on the basics of stereo/3-D photography, movies, and other media, and an overview of what opportunities lie ahead for designers who develop skills in this area. "New enabling technologies and a developing generation of serious manufacturers, producers, and investors are on a collision course that during the next decade will result in an explosion of stereoscopic (3-D) production and viewing equipment and media for entertainment, industry, and advertising," Dennis says. He will also bring some show-and-tell stereo equipment and media, which should make for a very interesting evening.
