Re: [graphicdesign-38] July 3rd Meetup Summary

Hi Jay,
I'm on this list and always want to attend these meetings (as it happens, I've been out of town for most of them), but I'm also a little embarrassed.  I'm not an educated graphic designer yet---just a wannabe.  Is there anyone else at these meetups like me, or is everyone a full-fledged designer?  Stupid questions, right?
Thanks for organizing all this and keeping up with the communications!

Despite the rain about 10 people showed up and it seemed to be a satisfying night for all. Rachel from Aquent was there and very helpful to those needing her services. You should expect to see her at future meetings speaking to various topics regarding employment in the creative industry.

Conversations were rich with everyone sharing their experiences from their various backgrounds and we spoke in collective disdain about the London Olympics logo. If you have a topic of conversation to suggest for the future meetups, please pass it along.

We talked about the future of the group and wanting to have consistent presentation/demos and with that the need to get more participation from members of the group, not only at meetings but also here online. Numbers will speak volumes for us in leveraging other's time and services.... make your's count by RSVPing now. So will an active message board, so get to posting .

Ideas about possibly doing some pro work for a non-profit or the sort were discussed. I've started a new discussion thread for this, so look for more information there.

We also talked about a collective project doing an online/print magazine specific to art/design; so if you're interested, see that new discussion thread.

Please post anything missed, or if you have any new ideas for future meetings, or if you just want to lament your missing an obviously good time ( you can atone yourself completely by RSVPing now for the next meeting), please feel free to add it to this discussion.

Please Note: If you hit "REPLY", your message will be sent to everyone on this mailing list ( [address removed])
