Welcome to the only cycling group in Toronto proper specifically for women. The purpose of this group is to bring together a group of women with a desire to cycle for a fun and challenging season of on-road cycling. We will all grow together throughout the season. The program will consist of a variety of rides on a road bike with clips. It will be best if you can come out on a fairly regular basis as we will continue to improve as a group. You will develop your stamina, speed and strength. The pace will be moderate at the start and will increase during the season. At the beginning of the season cyclists should be somewhat comfortable riding on the road for 1 hour, covering 25kms. Generally, we will ride for 2 to 3 hours and start at an easy cadence of about 70 rpms for about 2 hours. Each week we will ride a little faster/further. The intention is to get in a pretty good workout during the ride and then we can stop to chit chat after the ride over coffee, a spritzer or ice cream depending on the mood for the night.
Ride-nite will be every Thursday from May 3rd until the end of September.
Jacqui Snyder is the group coordinator and leader. She has cycled all her life in various formats. For many years Jacqui commuted to work up to 30k sometimes and enjoyed the challenge of shaving off as much time as possible on each ride. Jacqui joined a number of bike clubs in the city where she coordinated weekday evening outings and weekend trips and developed a love of distance riding. She has several centurions under her belt. To shake things up a bit; and as a big believer in cross-training, Jacqui joined Midweek cycle for a few years to work on speed training and group paceline riding skills. Jacqui stumbled across the CAN-BIKE program about 7 years ago and since then has shared her love of cycling and road safety with cyclists of all levels as an instructor of the program she refers to as “the drivers-ed’ of cycling.
