The Chermside Group of Amnesty International Australia has been meeting monthly since 2005. Our members are from all parts of the Northside of Brisbane as well as suburbs further afield such as Redcliffe and New Farm. Our group projects help Amnesty International with its important human rights work both in Australia and overseas. We do this mainly by 1) contacting political leaders and corporations through letter writing (monthly) and organising our own events to support human rights (such as an occasional info stall at a local market or holding a yearly event, such as a lunch focused on human rights in China) and 2) assisting and attending some of the many local rallies, seminars, art shows, protests, and fundraisers hosted by Amnesty International in and around Brisbane ( such as a conference hosted by Amnesty in 2011 on Aboriginal and TSI peoples human rights. Our work is greatly supported by the regional and national offices of Amnesty International Australia and the many other Amnesty groups in Qld and other parts of Australia. We also like to plan a few fun social outings each year. Through this satisfying work our members have enjoyed many good times and made lasting friendships.

Our group meets the Last Monday of the month at 6:30 pm at: The Coffee Club 46 Gayford Street ASPLEY. New members are very welcome.
