Aid Talks is a series of free, public forums aimed at engaging the community in conversation and debate on key international development issues, and other issues which relate to the system which perpetuates poverty such as trade and debt.

Aid Talks will bring in different speakers each month which will focus on a topical issue and we will take recommendations from members on what you would like to see covered in coming months. Half the session will be devoted to gaining an understanding of the topic, and the second half will be devoted to open discussion.

Aid Talks is hosted by AID/WATCH, an independent, membership-based organisation that campaigns to end the use of aid to further Australia’s economic and security ‘national interests’. We challenge governments, multilateral organisations, corporations and NGOs that use aid, trade and other mechanisms to undermine the ability of communities in the Global South to determine their own futures. We focus on the causes not the symptoms of poverty and inequality, and campaign for aid and development that promotes social and environmental justice.

Our vision is a world free from political and economic inequality, in which aid is no longer necessary and people can determine their own futures within a global framework of mutual respect for the environment and for one another.
