Vincent will cover versioning, subdomains, namespaces, read caching and how it can be used in FanFootage.com.

Speaker 2: Kevin Carey

Occupation: Waratek

Title: How the Waratek Java Virtualization Interface provides Multitenancy for Apache Tomcat

Synopsis:

  • Reasons for adopting JVI
  • Elasticat - Multitenant Apache Tomcat using JVI (demo)
  • Overview of Java Virtualization Interface API

Speaker 3: Ian Harris

Occupation: Golgi.io

Title: Golgi is a data transport layer for developers. It can be thought of not as providing a service API to developers but rather as providing a layer on which developers can implement their service API. Traditionally this layer has been dominated by REST. However, Golgi provides a number of features that are absent in a REST implementation.

Synopsis:

-an end-point connection model (servers can initiate transactions to clients removing the need for client-server polls, this is absent in the client-server base model used by REST)

  • management of the local send queue (including retry for failed transmissions, usually implemented by the developer)

  • management of the delivery queue in our cloud based infrastructure (this infrastructure runs the company's telco-grade delivery platform)

  • cross platform implementations (Android/iOS/J2SE/Javascript)

  • battery efficiency on mobile

  • ability to send native objects (i.e. send a Java object from an Android end-point and have it decoded as an Objective-C object on iOS)

As always there will be food and beer provided at the event :)

See you all on the 28th!
