I am an high school art teacher and teach to my kids that art is culture. I do not teach them how to color paper. I teach them to think on their own, and use their brain instead of believing what the teacher says.
I challenge them to challenge the status quo.
I tell them that art is culture, and has the power to change the status quo; which I personally believe it has never been as true as in post-modernism.
I tell my kids that what we say makes a difference, and by not saying anything we also make a difference: we accept the status quo.
