As .NET developers we've invested a lot of energy honing our craft with C#/VB/etc, the .NET framework and Visual Studio. Microsoft also spend a lot of time and resources enhancing and simplifying the framework (such as MVC, Web API, razor). The launch of Windows Azure has made putting an ASP.NET application into production easier than ever.

So why is that you don't hear a lot about startups who are using ASP.NET?

The aim of this group is to surface the lone rangers, isolated teams and start up companies out there who are using the .NET framework to bring innovative ideas to life, or those that are interested in doing so. You don't have to be involved with an established startup to fit in, just have a keen interest and a desire to meet others like you.

I hope to generate enough interest to warrant setting up a night in early - mid 2013 where we will be able to hear from developers using .NET in their startup ventures (pre launch, post launch/success), ask questions and meet like minded .NET developers.

The group will certainly not be closed to just .NET developers or startups - those who use Rails, PHP frameworks, Node, etc are all welcome to come and learn more about a framework they may have looked over. Established companies/developers using .NET for their products are much more than welcome to come down and share their insight or find out about (what I hope to discover to be) a thriving startup community using .NET.

If anybody has some leads for potential speakers, know startups using .NET or any other ideas please let me know!
