When Two Worlds Collide: Java and Ruby in the Enterprise!

Details
This talk will introduce you to JRuby and TorqueBox (http://torquebox.org/). We'll show how TorqueBox features such as messaging, scheduled jobs, services, caching, and distributed transactions simplify complex Ruby application development and deployment. You'll also see how many of these same features allow Ruby and Java applications to be deployedside-by-side, integrating on multiple levels in ways no other Ruby orJava server supports.
About the speaker:
Ben Browning has been paid to write software since he was 13 years old. He first started using Ruby in 2006 but didn't fully appreciate it until working in a Java shop for several years. Now he works for Red Hat on the TorqueBox team writing open-source software using a mixture of Ruby and Java.
Networking and refreshments at 6:30pm, talk starts at 7pm
Look forward to seeing everyone there!
