How Everyday Hero went to the next level on AWS
Daniel Sowter, Manager of Engineering at Everyday Hero will be sharing how AWS has helped EDH extend its reach to more people around the world than ever before.

In this presentation you will learn:

• What were the compelling events that inspired the move to AWS and the key business and technical requirements

• The benefits that are now being enjoyed and managed by the business

• Adopting better ways of managing infrastructure

• Challenges that were overcome such as a complex filesystem and SQL data migration

• Deploying containerised applications with Docker on EC2

• Using Kibana and ElasticSearch to manage it all

Automating AWS (and all the things) with Puppet Enterprise
Patrick Kelso, Technical Solutions Engineer at Puppet Labs will be presenting on the recent re-launch of the Puppet AWS module for provisioning Instances, VPCs, ELBs and many more in Amazon, connecting instances to an existing Puppet Master and ensuring all your machines are always configured correctly.

There will be a short introduction to Puppet and Infrastructure as Code for those of you that have never seen it before, followed by an in depth live demo (Internet and demo gods willing) of managing a Puppet Enterprise installation for AWS and on premise.

Patrick Kelso is a recovering Systems Administrator with a long history of working in large enterprises and small startups, sometimes at the same time. Having used AWS for over 5 years, and worked in the web hosting industry on and off for the last 20, the value of automation was quickly apparent to Patrick when he discovered it and now he won't stop talking about it.
