Highly-Scalable Wordpress on the Cheap & Re:Invent Recap

Firstly, let me apologize for the delayed notice. Being in Vegas all last week has me running to catch-up on backlogged work all this week. I've also had some difficulty confirming Microsoft this month for an Azure discussion, so it is tentatively rescheduled for next month.

In the meantime, this is a great opportunity for Mike Gimbel and I to share a bit of what we learned at AWS Re:Invent. We'll both spend a bit of time going over our notes from the breakout training sessions, plus recommend which sessions are worth looking up on Youtube to watch.

I'll also be discussing how I've applied some of the things I learned to design a highly-scalable, self-healing Wordpress installation rather inexpensively. This includes a practical application of a VPC, auto-scaling groups, custom Cloudwatch metrics, and the recently introduced feature of IAM roles.

Per feedback from members that are traveling from further east, I've also moved the meeting time back from 6:30 to 7:00. Let's see how well that works. Thanks and hope to see you there!
