Our annual wine club picnic is this Saturday at 5:00!
We are looking really good, but I want to remind everyone how it works so it goes well. Everybody (every couple) is asked to bring a side dish to share and a bottle of wine to share.
I have a couple of volunteered side dishes – see chart below – but we could use some help in this area! Everyone, including me, is very busy, so we haven’t had a “full complement” of side dishes – but we still have this week to get it going.
Usually, in previous years, we have had all kinds of appetizers and desserts by this point but this time we have mainly side dishes for the barbecue. It’s not a bad thing, but I think we could use a couple of desserts.
So, if you haven’t volunteered anything yet, and most of you haven’t, please think about it and send me an email with what you plan to bring so that we don’t have all of any one thing.
Here is what I’ve seen so far. If I have overlooked you, please send me another email.
Gourmet Cole Slaw
Baked Bean Dish
Remember that the main course will again be the ever-popular barbecue pulled pork and chicken from Firefly’s, which I will be bringing, but for which we’ll be looking for a donation of $10 per person to cover the cost. It comes with bulkie rolls.
Wine: As I’ve mentioned before, our usual pairing is Zinfandel, and it would be great to have all manner of Zin and Primitivo to sip and discuss. But, as I mentioned previously, I am open to other wines that fit the theme, be they Old World or New.
Thanks again to Diane for hosting the event at her place. Let’s hope the weather is good.
Please send me email with questions and suggestions, or call my mobile phone.
