Are you interested in data science, analytics, big data? Come and join the Data Science Hackathon taking place on the last weekend of April at Aalto University. NB: The event is open for everyone, you do not need to be an Aalto student.
In this Data Science Hackathon the idea is to explore different kinds of datasets, apply all kinds of analysis methods, and come up with interesting observations or new ideas of using the data. We welcome participants with different backgrounds e.g., applied mathematics, analytics, or computer science. The most important is a curious mind, creative attitude, and elementary skills to play with data.
In the spirit of hackathon the work will be done in small teams using datasets that we will provide. We have tentatively divided the data into three tracks:
-
Fitness data analysis (Wellmo, Twitter, Endomondo, etc.)
-
Telecom data analysis (Elisa, etc.)
-
Energy data analysis (CIVIS EU project data, datasets from earlier Green campus hackathon, etc.)
Aalto students can earn 3 credits by participating at the Hackathon and writing a report after the event (T-110.6120 Special Course in Data Communication Software). While the event is primarily targeted to Aalto students other participants with relevant skills are also welcome.
