This talk will be an overview of the new features and improvements currently implemented for the Apache Accumulo 1.8.0 release. This will be a discussion about some of these exciting changes with a focus on what is of the most importance for users.

Speaker Bios:
Josh Elser is a member of the engineering staff at Hortonworks. He is strong advocate for open source software, taking an active role in the Apache Software Foundation. Josh enjoys working on distributed system problems, and regularly contributes to many Apache projects such as Accumulo, Calcite, HBase, Phoenix, and Slider. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Bill Slacum is a Platform Architect at Miner Kasch, a Hadoop and data science consultancy. He's a committer & PMC member for Accumulo. He currently helps businesses of all sizes get the most out of theirAccumulo clusters in his day job. In his personal time, he enjoys playing with his dogs and riding his bike.
