Details
This month we have two presentations. Learn about encrypting your data with Duncan to keep it safe from Tom's robot army. (Actually, I think the robots are pretty harmless.... unless that's just what they want you to think!! :-)

Data Encryption using .Net and SQL Server.
Protecting sensitive data using encryption is not new, but the new functionality in .Net 4.6 and SQL Server 2016 brings new features to help developers write secure code. This talk will be a review of existing encryption development methods and a taste of the new functionality.

Building an Army of $10 Robots with HTML 5 and Node.js
In 2012 Tom Tilley won the tethered category of the AFRON $10 Robot Design Challenge with his robot "Suckerbot" which was made from a USB joystick, some plastic milk bottle lids and a pair of functional Chupa Chups (Strawberry and Cream flavoured of course). Tom will be talking about Suckerbot's hardware and software as well as a number of earlier game-controller hacking projects that led to its development.
About Tom
Dr Tom Tilley grew up in Coomandook, South Australia. After high school he moved to the big smoke of Adelaide where he worked as a technician fixing fax machines and cellular phones for a number of years. At 25 he went to study computer science at the University of Adelaide and has basically been at universities or colleges as either a student or lecturer ever since. Tom has recently returned to Australia after nearly 10 years working in Northern Thailand where he was an Assistant Professor at Payap University.
