Robopocalypse: Humanity Ends?

Daniel Wilson has written the book "Robopocalypse" that was sold to Spielberg before finished. It will be a Summer 2013 blockbuster. Singularity and Unfriendly AI is the subject. In the book, humanity loses a long war against a super-intelligent Unfriendly AI that is never really identified. Humanity eventually gives up. The AI however, is interested in Science and Biology in particular and does not have a goal of wiping people out. Humanity survives. Are we going to be this lucky?
