AI can generate a working website or application in minutes. So where does that leave WordPress?
Rather than debating whether WordPress is “obsolete,” this meetup will tackle a much more useful question:
When is WordPress the smart choice, and when isn’t it?

We’ll look at what vibe-coded and AI-generated websites are genuinely good at, then compare that with what businesses need once a website has to live, evolve, and be maintained for years.

We’ll dig into some of the areas where WordPress continues to have a major advantage, including ownership and portability, non-technical content management, its massive plugin and developer ecosystem, established security and maintenance practices, and the ability to find someone who can take over a site years after it was originally built.

But this isn’t going to be a “WordPress is always the answer” talk. We’ll also discuss situations where WordPress probably shouldn’t be your first choice, and how AI can make WordPress development faster rather than simply replacing it.

The second half of the evening will open things up for discussion with local WordPress professionals and the community. We’ll talk about real client scenarios, maintenance, AI-generated code, and how freelancers and agencies can answer the increasingly common question: “Why shouldn’t I just build this with AI?”

Local WordPress pros will share real-world experiences, followed by an open conversation about WordPress, AI, client expectations, and the future of building for the web.
