Whole Foods Chat

Please read this entire email. Happy New Year to all. The brief hiatus is over and meetings will now resume every week or two. I'm going to start posting events in different venues regularly, with occasional returns to Whole Foods, Saints Alp and other regular venues that I enjoy. If you have suggestions, please let me know.

This is an ADVANCED Chinese meetup during which NO ENGLISH is spoken.

Recently there are a few people showing up who do not have a good enough speaking level to attend. Showing up to listen is not good enough, because you are forcing people to translate for you. I was hoping people would be able to figure out on their own that this isn't appropriate, but so far that hasn't been the case. So to anybody who shows up who I think isn't ready, I am going to tell you to your face that you are not welcome next time and you can try again in 2-3 months. If you study hard, eventually you will be able to attend, but this is not like the other meetups where it's fine to just speak English the whole time. You will be asked to leave. I'm not interested in excuses or explanations. You are ruining the meetups for everyone else who has come to speak only Chinese. This policy begins at this meetup officially.

People who want to discuss this or are uncertain of their level can feel free to email me and I will be happy to go over it with you personally or help you decide if the meetup is appropriate.
