Chat at Whole Foods
Details
As evidenced by the tremendous turnout at the last meetup, we probably need to have meetups more often, so we will return to Whole Foods on Wednesday for our standard chat. I have a few events coming up not at Whole Foods for those who want a change of scenery, especially now that the weather is getting nicer and we can start meeting outside I think.
A few people seem to have difficulty finding us. At Whole Foods, we usually find empty tables upstairs, past the sushi place, around the corner in the room adjacent to the bathrooms. I will try to start putting the "meetup.com Advanced Chinese Conversation" sign on the table more regularly. I tend not to bother since it's easy enough to spot the huge group of Chinese-speaking foreigners taking up space.
Thanks to everyone who comes regularly for all of your positive feedback and enthusiasm. We're closing in on 300 members after about 1.5 years which is a pretty nice milestone. I think each meetup attracts a pretty interesting and friendly group of people and I've never left one feeling like I didn't enjoy myself.
For newcomers, this is the Advanced Chinese Conversation group which means NO ENGLISH is spoken. We stick to Mandarin and occasionally you might hear a dialect like Cantonese which I consider fair game, but if I hear you say more than a few words in English out of sheer desperation, I am going to harass you and possibly make you wear a dunce cap for 5 minutes. Not really, but that would be funny.
See you all there,
Dan
