Newbie-Only-Event: Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum (Ancient Games & Tomb Tour)

Details
This is a "newbie" event: so no mater if you are a long-time or new member, if you've never been to an event - this is for you. Why have this? Because while we have such a friendly group of people, it is sometimes awkward to dive in when you don't know anyone. The nice thing about a newbie-only event is that everyone is in the same position!
Better yet, we will be going to one of the most interesting places in California: The Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum in San Jose. Architecturally inspired by the Temple of Amon at Karnak, it houses the largest collection of Egyptian artifacts on exhibit in western North America -- including objects from pre-dynastic times through Egypt's early Islamic era.
What to expect:
*We are meeting inside the Museum @ 12:15pm instead of Starbucks across the street because it is too small for 20 of us). Please let the front desk know that you are with the Adventures in History group. They will guide you to the reading room, which is upstairs to the platform where the restrooms are. Then take the stairs to the right. The first room is the reading room. If you get there late, please ask to be directed to the artifact handling workshop to find us (I'll be carrying an orange Egyptian tote bag and Meet-Up lanyard). You can also reach me on my cell: 408-307-6721.
*Who am I and why do I do this? My grandmother, who raised me, told me stories of our family spanning different historical periods, and who - in lieu of Disney movies - had me watch movies from the 30s-40s. It gave me an appreciation and passion for history. When she took me to this museum as a young child, my whole world expanded upon observing the magnificence of humanity's history. I enjoy exploring history through fun experiences - in addition to studying it - and wish to include a group of like-minded people to share that with!
*What are we going to do? . At 12:30m we will attend the Games & Leisure in Ancient Egypt workshop. We will learn and practice playing the game of Senet - a board game the pharaohs of Egypt played. Afterwards, we will have a tour of the life-size tomb replica! Then we can explore each of the museum's galleries.
What if you can't make it to this event? No problem. I am going to host these newbie-only events at least once every few months at the museum.
What if you've been to an AiH event before but never at the museum? No problem there either. We will have an event here once a year (or twice if there is a special event) for regular AiH members too. In 2014 they are scheduled to open their Museum of Alchemy within the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum Park, which we will absolutely be attending!
Feel free to message/email me, or comment with any questions you may have! Hope to see you there.
