December Update

Hello, Adventurous Singles!

Another year is nearing its end, and we have had several new members added to our roll. So, I would like to go over a few issues.

Steve Walls is our group's kayaking expert. He runs a kayaking business, Discover Kayak, and he has organized a few events for our group.

Most activities by the group still require my presence, simply because no one else is available to lead these activities. From time-to-time, I have appointed a temporary organizer to run events. If anyone would like to organize an event, I would be happy to vest you with the power.

I set the group setting so that anyone could suggest meetups and make changes to proposed meetups. Please do not set a date for a meetup unless you are going to organize and operate that meetup. Once a date is set, the only way I can keep that meetup from sending out alerts is either to keep rescheduling it or to cancel it. I really hate rescheduling events, so I'm probably going to cancel meetups that have dates without organizers.

Because I am the primary organizer, events often are scheduled based on my time, money and inclination. Most of you probably don't know it, but I lost my full-time job about the same time that I took over this group. I returned to college almost full-time, with some part-time work. I would like to run more activities for Adventurous Singles, but I cannot do this on my own.

I took over the payment of Adventurous Singles Meetup fees 2.5 years ago. These fees run me about $150/year. I'm asking each of you to contribute $5/year. Which would you prefer to pay? Please support your group by paying your membership fee.

My classes for the Fall semester ended last week, and my next scheduled classes don't begin until January, so I have a few weeks in which to schedule some events for the group. Where would you like to go? What would you like to do?

I've car camped over most of Texas and New Mexico, and parts of Oklahoma and Arkansas. This is a lot of fun, though significantly more involved that most meetup groups could handle. Most people don't have more than a day for activities, so we are pretty much limited to the DFW area, unless enough people show an interest (that is, pay money) for more distant events.

Feel free to send me a message. I like to hear from people.
