Carlton Nettleton: Removing Scrum Impediments with Drawings

Details

This month we have a speaker all the way from San Diego, bringing us new ideas from the Agile community abroad.

Removing Impediments with Drawings

Pictures convey ideas more clearly and have a greater impact than a simple conversation. The ability to communicate, and perhaps sell, your ideas at a whiteboard is an essential skill for anyone on an Agile team. In this hands-on session based on Dan Roam's book "The Back of the Napkin", we will learn the six types of diagrams used in business and how to select the right picture for your problem. All you need for this session is an issue, your imagination and the ability to draw a circle, square, arrow and a stick figure. Come on - give this a try. It will be fun.

Carlton Nettleton is a Scrum and Agile software development expert in San Diego, USA. As President of Look Forward Consulting (www.lookforwardconsulting.com), he shares his ten years of practical Agile experience consulting and mentoring teams on how to increase quality, build high-performing teams and improve performance using Scrum. Carlton is a Certified Scrum Trainer® and has been practicing Scrum since 2005. He has coached teams in organizations from small start-ups to companies regulated by the US Food & Drug Administration.

The event is at NZI House thanks to IAG, and starts as always with drinks and chips at 5pm, followed by the talk starting at 5:30pm. See you there!

We'd appreciate a $5 donation to help pay for the drinks and chips.
