Agile Writers (http://AgileWriters.com) is a not-for-profit writer’s club dedicated to helping the beginning writer create a first-draft novel in 6 months.  The process of getting from a blank page to a full manuscript is based on the writings of experts in the field and our experiences running the Chesterfield Writers Club.  It is the contention of Agile Writers that anyone who has a story to tell can complete a first-draft novel in 6 months.  We value Story over Skill.


Participation in the Workshop is by invitation only. You must first join the Agile Writer Club and take our free Seminar.  Then, you will be invited to join the Agile Writer Workshop. The Agile Writer starts with a Storyboard that breaks the novel into 6 acts and 5 major turning points.  Once the Storyboard is approved, the writer moves on the the critique group, converting their Storyboard into a novel - at a pace of 10 pages per week.  Thus completing the first draft in just 6 months.

  • Joseph Campbell (“The Hero With A Thousand Faces”)
  • Christopher Vogler (“The Writer’s Journey”)
  • Michael Hauge (“Writing Screenplays That Sell”)
  • Christopher Booker (“The Seven Basic Plots”)
  • Allison & Goethals (“Heroes – What They Do & Why We Need Them”)


We have each made a commitment to attend weekly meetings and bring our latest work to the group for review. We also read within our genres and share how what we’ve read applies to our work and the evolving process.


Meetings take place every Wednesday at the Martin's on Midlothian Turnpike (7pm).  You are welcome to drop in and see what it is all about!
