Thelemic Holy Days Gathering

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

The Thelemic Holy Days commemorate the reception of the central teachings of the theology of THELEMA—Liber AL vel Legis sub figura CCXX: The Book of the Law—by the English prophet Aleister Crowley in 1904.

While on honeymoon in Egypt, his newlywed wife Rose began to receive psychic messages about an important message intended for Crowley from a preternatural intelligence associated with the Egyptian god Horus. Despite his initial skepticism, Crowley was able to discern that Rose, without any prior knowledge of Egyptian mythology, successfully pointed out a series of qabalistic correspondences that convinced him that it was not just her imagination. Crowley was also given instructions to be ready at Noon each consecutive day to receive this important message.

When Crowley followed the instructions at a hotel flat in Cairo, he described a mysterious entity that spoke to him from just behind his left shoulder. This entity was later determined by Crowley to be a vision of his Holy Guardian Angel, called 'Aiwass.' The results of this channeled work are the three chapters of the Book of the Law.

Aleister Crowley spent the remainder of his life studying and unlocking this book's many mysteries. However, instead of promulgating it as religious dogma, Crowley urged each student to read and interpret its contents for themselves, and to use it as an inspiration for discovering and following his or her individual True Will.

The Thelemic Holy Days signify the initial announcement to humanity of the immanentization of the Aeon of Horus—the Crowned and Conquering Child—also known as 'The Equinox of the Gods.' The Aeon of Osiris, with his formula of the dying god, was now defunct. Crowley predicted the Aeon of Horus to involve radical social and spiritual changes for the entire planet, pre-dating the advent of the events World War I and II.

During this new Aeon, the primary achievement for every individual is the spiritual-alchemical process Crowley referred to as "Knowledge and Conversation of the Holy Guardian Angel." Defying a simple explanation in plain words, it is the step in which the aspirant comes into intimate contact with his or her True Inner Spiritual Teacher.

Each of the three Holy Days is associated with the corresponding date on which it was received, as well as one of the three primary archetypes in the Thelemic cosmology: For April 8th, we commemorate the writing of the first chapter, and the Egyptian sky goddess Nuit. On April 9th, we commemorate the second chapter and the wingéd solar disk god, Hadit. The final day and third chapter is associated with Ra-Hoor-Khuit, an aspect of kundalini energy in the warrior godform of Horus.

Please join us at Catland Books on Monday, April 8th to celebrate the reception of Chapter One, and the goddess Nuit. Guests are welcome to bring and share vegetarian food, rich foods, sweet wines and wines that foam. We will have music, a reading from The Book of the Law (beginning precisely at 8:30pm), and social hour. Guests are welcome.

Love is the law, love under will.

93 The celebration was excellent with an outstanding recitation of the chapter of Nuit by Aiesha along with musical accompaniment featuring Bryce and Eric. This event was hosted at Cutland Bookstore which opened up recently in Brooklyn at 987 Flushing Ave. I recommend it to all Thelemites and those interested in the occult.
