We are in a unique and ironic position in Alaska, in that high oil prices mean major state windfalls. If we spent just a fraction of that new income on developing renewable energy here, we'd be a per-capita world leader in the field.
-We could have tidal power, so instead of a bridge to nowhere, a generation system with a road on top...
-We could have geothermal power, were instead of burning fuel, we tap the hot spots for energy (did you know
California gets 5% of it's electric power from geothermanl all built in the 1950's?)...
-We could have solar power, using snow-bowls on mountains as giant collectors...
-We could use passive solar to reduce heating costs all over...
-We could use recylables instate to build thicker walls and reduce fuel needs...
-We could work to change over public lighting systems to lower energy bulbs that pay for themselves...
-We could have low-impact, small scale hydropower, safely using a fraction of the flow from creeks to
supplement community power...
-We could have wind power...
-Where we have oil platforms, we could use tidal power to also generate hydrogen as fuel...
-What else could we have?
We could form a partnership business, and even all make money working together to manifest these needed innovations, by identifying what makes the most sense here, and helping to sell these ideas to those who don't realize how much more we could flourish with renewable energy...
What do you dream in this area? What want to see happen?
Lets take some time together and see where we might go!
