How would you describe your kayaking experience? e.g. beginner (not been out yet to a few times), novice(been out more than a dozen times), kayak regularly (been out lots of times),been-there-done- that.(out in all conditions)

I canoe rather than kayak. I would consider myself very experienced. I have been out in all kinds of weather.

Do you own a kayak? If so, what kind?

I own four canoes and two kayaks. Primarily paddle a Wenonah solo canoe.

Do you accept responsibility for your own safety while kayaking with the group? yes or no.

Are you aware of safety gear and how to use it? Please write briefly about a safety item that you use when you kayak and why you use it?

I wear a PFD when paddling in cold water, cold weather, or unfamiliar water. I have sunscreen and water with me all the time, and a set of dry clothes and a towel in a big zip lock bag.

What sort of kayaking are you hoping to do with this group? (and be creative here... locations, scheduling, distances/lengths of time, etc.)

Day paddles. I would consider overnights. I have paddled up to 30 miles in a day and 145 miles in a week. Most of the local day paddles I do are 6-14 miles in length.

I live in Bowling Green KY and am active in Bowling Green Canoe and Kayak. I have friends in the Albany area and would like people to paddle with when I have a chance to get back.
