Fiction. Poetry. The odd scholarly paper and presentation (for work now, mostly) - but I do enjoy the research.
Everything. Fiction, non-fiction, cook books, periodicals (on topics familiar and unfamiliar) - I'll read just about anything to keep the wheels greased. My least favorite reads are biographies and tech journals, but I'll delve into them just to keep my brain fresh.
My tastes are pretty pedestrian. I like Hemingway (God knows why, probably because a man who drank daquiries and loved polydactyl cats couldn't have been all bad). I adore Stephen King for bringing the grit of horror to everyday life. And I love T. S. Elliott, not for his cats, but for his straw-filled headpieces and rueful perspective on getting older.
I believe that art makes us human - and that storytelling (in one form or another) is our oldest art form. I write for fun and for my sanity.
This was my first foray into a writers' group of any sort. All things considered, pretty fun.
