Welcome to the Alexandria Moms and Playgroup Meetup!

We are Alexandria Moms whose children are between birth and four years old who are looking to make friends with other moms and find great playgroups and activites for our kids. Our events are member generated and hosted. The more active you are - the more successful we will be as a group!

Why are we private? It's simple: to protect ourselves and our children. This is also why we ask that you post a picture (of yourself!) in your profile. We want to know who will be interacting with us and our babies. You may have a picture of your baby, husband, dog etc… in your profile, but please be sure that YOU are also in that picture!

Why do we charge dues? We charge $5 yearly as dues. You have 30 days to hang out and figure out if our group is right for you before you have to pay up. This is to cover the cost of running the Meetup site and for the enormous of time and energy that goes into it. We also believe that charging a small due encourages member commitment. Often members join Meetup groups and then never participate in any activities or suggest any activities. We are seeking active members.

Our members can schedule appropriate activities at the time and venue of their choosing by contacting the organizer using the “Ideas” tool. One you have scheduled two successful activities (successful is defined by you filling your end of the bargain and showing up and greeting everyone), contact the organizer to be made an event scheduler. This will mean that you can schedule events without going through the organizer.
