Welcome to Alphabet Soup! We are a group of mostly mothers that get together monthly to disucss a book. We read fiction as well as non fiction and attempt to pick books that will generate a thoughful discussion. Meetups are usually on a Tuesday evening and take place either at a member's home or public venue. It can be in any area of the city. Some books we've read recently include: Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver; Strength in What Remains by Tracy Kidder; The Help by Kathryn Stockett; Blindness by Jose Saramago; The Book Borrower by Alice Mattison; Super Freakonomics by Steven Levitt; Everyday People by Stewart O'Nan; and The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay by Michael Chabon.
Please check the calendar for upcoming events. We'd love to see you on the message board where you can get to know other members as well as suggest books for meetups. Also, please check the polls section to see if we are voting on a new book or to have input into other aspects of the group.
If you are willing to host, please let us know as we're happy to meet in new locations!
Although this group is mostly made up of moms with kids, you don't have to be a mom to join, we welcome everyone!
